Success Story

Autodesk PowerShape for Comopack

Autodesk PowerShape for Comopack

Customer challenge

Comopack is a global provider of KLT containers and 100% reconfigurable dunnage solutions, which can be rented and shipped across continents, where Comopack will manage all maintenance, delivery and collection. Comopack is headquartered in Singapore where the team handles design, production and operation. The challenge faced by Comopack is that oftentimes when they design their products, they were unable to meaningfully edit polygonal (mesh) models. The designing team was restricted to using their CAD software on one computer per license. In addition, Comopack was looking for a more user friendly and reliable solid modelling software for their product design output.

Project goals

By using Autodesk solutions, the goals of this project were to improve ease of handling a variety of CAD model file formats, and generate high quality 3D models for downstream production, allow flexibility and ease for the team to use CAD software on different computer, and improve design output quality. By achieving these goals, the team’s efficiency will increase.

Solution

Based on their selection criteria, Comopack chose Autodesk PowerShape as it fulfilled their requirements to overcome their above challenges. Shonan Design Singapore conducted training for the team and regularly contacted them to discuss about the questions faced during usage, to ensure they can use Autodesk PowerShape to meet their challenges.

Business outcome

The ability of Autodesk PowerShape to import and edit 3D CAD formats helps Comopack save time on their designing process. Autodesk PowerShape’s solid modelling is based on Parasolid kernel, which Comopack finds reliable – they are sure the solid 3D models they generated in Autodesk PowerShape will be high quality watertight solid models without missing surfaces, saving them unnecessary trouble during data transfer. Also, with each Autodesk PowerShape subscription license, the design team can easily run Autodesk PowerShape on desktop PC while in office, or on mobile laptop when out of office visiting client.

Conclusion

Comopack achieved tangible increase in their CAD related design efficiency as intended. “We appreciate Shonan Design Singapore team for their relentless support to us during our use of Autodesk PowerShape. The CAD solution has proved to be a valuable asset for our design team." – Mr. Terence Lam, Deputy CEO, Comopack Pte Ltd.

Autodesk Advanced Manufacturing Solution for Admiralty International Pte Ltd

Admiralty International Pte Ltd was incorporated in 1991 and initially for trading of marine hardware and boat care products. It operated from a 700 square feet shop. With the good support from our customers, Admiralty International Pte Ltd has expanded their activities and moved to its present location at Loyang Crescent in 1998. They provide their customers a comprehensive and preventive maintenance in marine repairs. They have the technology and capabilities to design and manufacture their products, such as fiberglass boats, rigid hull inflatable boats and structural fiberglass products. They also build fiber glass products according to customer's design. Initial challenge for Admiralty International is that their operation is labour intensive, manual and heavily relied on skilled workers and craftsmen to complete projects. The lead time is long so the sales side cannot commit too many projects at one time.
