Success Story

TENSA - BIM Implementation

TENSA - BIM Implementation

Customer challenge

TENSA is motivated to be a leader in the construction of industrial and commercial plants in Mexico. Since 1995, TENSA has developed various types of buildings, always complying with the highest quality and safety standards, such as BTS (Build to Suit) projects, as well as projects with LEED certifications. In the search to be more efficient with optimized construction times, collaboration was a priority for improvement and the BIM methodology was the ideal tool for reinforcing TENSA's workflow.

Project goals

It was then that TENSA sought Compucad out as partners, with the idea of implementing Autodesk BIM 360, where it would not only be implemented within the company, but also with its subcontractors and some clients; this despite the fact that both nationally and internally the methodology was still in an early stage. TENSA preferred to face the panorama as a leader in its field and train for the challenge, allowing them to position themselves as one of the great examples of BIM 360 success.

Solution

After clarifying the objectives, a pilot project was developed which had to demonstrate the benefits of BIM, such as time efficiency, fewer errors in the field, as well as cross-engineering with all subcontractors. The solution was promising and the beginning was challenging, since it was necessary to adjust the way of working, for which joint support was key in the process. Since mastered and incorporated into daily workflow, TENSA has demonstrated the scope of BIM 360 with resounding success.

Business outcome

Since TENSA generated that first project in the BIM 360 HUB, the way of working has changed and improved in all aspects, where the success obtained has made some clients want to use their tool to work together with TENSA. Some challenges have arisen within the new projects, but all of them have been successfully overcome. To this day, TENSA continues to reap the benefits of time and financial savings, and quality that differentiates them, making their clients satisfied with the work carried out.

Conclusion

Based on this project, the TENSA team and those close to them agree that BIM 360 is a way of collaborating that allows them to have first-hand the information they need to make the right decisions at any time, and achieve increasingly complex projects with the high quality standards that they demand.
