Collaboration Workflow Improvement with BIM Collaborate

Collaboration Workflow Improvement with BIM Collaborate

Customer challenge

NEO Aerodromes is internationally recognized for its expertise in aerodrome infrastructure design. Working on international projects which involve investors, design offices, and construction companies from different countries, they were looking for a comprehensive platform to improve their collaboration workflow to allow all involved parties to have up-to-date data and to support the document approval process.

Project goals

NEO Aerodromes had several specific goals: • A secured cloud-based platform for sharing files in the most cost-effective way • A better collaboration workflow to reduce rework with a tighter project timeline • An efficient way to keep the whole project team in coordination including all stakeholders’ approval and involvement • Streamlining and structuring the control of the design process to avoid errors in all stages of the design • Implementation and internationalization of the design standards so that engineers can communicate based on the same data, working in many locations and on many projects • Improving data transfer from the design stage to the execution stage, including change management processes to avoid coordination problems

Solution

Our team at PMO suggested implementing and using the Autodesk BIM 360 platform with Revit to achieve effectiveness and efficiency between project stakeholders. Establishing a set of standards based on conclusions from discussions with the designers from all involved parties laid the groundwork for the introduction of BIM 360 as a contractual requirement. Implementing Autodesk Revit, BIM 360 Design, and BIM 360 Docs with a set of manuals and a set of best practices was created which allowed for a standardized way of working and modeling. To additionally assure success PMO was engaged as system super admin and supervisor.

Business outcome

By using Autodesk BIM 360 Design, NEO Aerodromes and all their international partners, overcame some of their key challenges including delivering project documentation on time and within a tight budget, being able to make decisions remotely across locations, and sharing information securely. They have noticed a clear return on investment after purchasing their Autodesk solution.

Conclusion

PMO successfully delivered a cost-effective solution with the use of tools provided by Autodesk which allows a variety of teams to work together in different locations, using the same data. By doing so, we have helped to increase project efficiency.
