AutoCAD Electrical improves both the Development and Build Phases

AutoCAD Electrical improves both the Development and Build Phases

Customer challenge

Richlin Machinery is a full service machine tool company and manufacturing automation integrator. Richlin brings a practical sense of what works and fresh thinking to manufacturing. The unusual and so-called “impossible” challenges are what they thrive in! The team at Richlin was dealing with time consuming and inefficient work processes when doing electrical layouts. They worked with MicroCAD’s team to find a better solution.

Project goals

Autodesk Solution Provider MicroCAD partnered with Richlin for consultation, implementation and adoption of the right solution. The main goals we sought to achieve were to implement a new process for Richlin’s electrical layouts. The solution needed to allow Richlin to streamline the process for changes and modifications to the schematics.

Solution

As part of the solution MicroCAD recommended Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, included software with the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection. MicroCAD conducted a full scope of training and implementation of this new solution. The plan included an onsite custom training program for team members of Richlin Machinery. The training focused on product training, features and how to use the software for their specific design needs.

Business outcome

Richlin Machinery is now able to work more efficiently during both the design and build phase of projects. Richlin saved time, gained knowledge and expertise. Before implementing AutoCAD Electrical, these changes to the schematics were painful, time consuming, and usually not complete. Now they are done in short order and they are complete - across the board.

Conclusion

The team at MicroCAD and the team at Richlin worked well together. Together they set goals, expectations and made certain that the complete process went smoothly. The training was completed in a short amount of time but the effects are long lasting. Jeff Richlin of Richlin Machinery highly recommends working with MicroCAD Training & Consulting on the implementation of AutoCAD Electrical.

BIM and Manufacturing Combine for True to Life Representations of their Structural Fasteners

FastenMaster is an American-based manufacturer of structural wood screws, composite deck screws, hidden deck and trim fasteners, hidden deck clips and more! Their ultimate goal is to help the PRO contractor strengthen his or her business. The challenges that the team at FastenMaster faced was with creating Autodesk REVIT families and 3D models of their structural fastener lineup. REVIT itself cannot produce scaled detailed families within the program itself. Another Autodesk program, Inventor, as well as an MicroCAD Inventor Applications Specialist, were required to produce the complex and accurate representation of the screws. The incoming product specifications content from the client was in CAD/dwg format, so a third program, AutoCAD was used. This required new collaborative workflows and showcased the powerful interoperability between several of Autodesk’s design software lineup.
